A gentle, play-based first school experience for young children.
Outlook & District Playschool is a warm, supportive, screen-free environment where children can play, grow, build confidence, and explore new experiences at their own pace.
Through play, friendships, gentle routines, and hands-on activities, children develop important skills that help prepare them for the transition into kindergarten and beyond.
We help children build:
-
Confidence
-
Independence
-
Friendships
-
Social skills
-
Comfort in a group setting
-
Familiarity with routines and new experiences
This isn't full-day daycare, and it isn't a strict academic program.
It's a gentle bridge between home and school.
A few hours a week in a smaller, familiar environment gives children the opportunity to practice being part of a group, listening to another trusted adult, making friends, taking turns, and building confidence away from home, all through play.

Tuition Support Is Available
A Community-Sponsored Opportunity for Local Children
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and community members, partial and full tuition support is available to help families access Outlook & District Playschool.
If you've been thinking about registering your child but the cost of tuition is making you hesitate, we want you to know:
There is support available, and we encourage you to apply.
The sponsorship funding was created specifically to help local children attend playschool.
You don't need to be certain you qualify before applying. If cost is a factor in your decision, we encourage you to apply.
Support may cover part or all of your child's tuition, depending on available funding, the number of applicants, and the Playschool Board's review.
Applications are reviewed confidentially.
A Long-Standing Part of Our Community
Outlook & District Playschool has been part of the Outlook community for nearly 40 years.
What began in a church basement has grown and evolved alongside generations of local families while staying true to the same core belief:
Young children learn best through play, connection, and belonging.
Today, our program is located in a spacious setting with access to outdoor play and is centrally located in the heart of Outlook.
Children enjoy both indoor and outdoor experiences, as well as simple walking field trips that help them feel connected to their community and confident exploring the world around them.

Why Families Choose Outlook & District Playschool
A gentle transition into kindergarten
For many children, kindergarten is their first experience being part of a larger group away from home.
Playschool gives children the opportunity to practice in a smaller, more familiar environment first.
A play-based approach
There are no worksheets, drills, or pressure to perform.
Children learn through:
-
Free play
-
Imaginative play
-
Creative activities
-
Group experiences
-
Hands-on learning
-
Everyday routines
Because at this age, play is how children learn.
A screen-free environment
Children spend their time interacting with other children, engaging with their educator, exploring, creating, and using their imaginations.
A predictable routine
Children attend on the same days each week, helping create familiarity and consistency.
A schedule that works with school life
Our school year runs from approximately mid-September to June and follows the Sun West School Division calendar, including school holidays and breaks.
This means that if you have older children in school, your playschooler generally follows the same school-year rhythm.
Our playschool year also begins shortly after older children return to school and finishes before the end of the elementary school year.
Built by Our Community, for Our Children
Outlook & District Playschool is proudly run by a parent volunteer committee made up of families involved in the program.
Parent involvement is encouraged and valued.
This is a community program built by families, for families.
For nearly four decades, local children have come through these doors to make friends, build confidence, and take their first steps toward school.
We are proud to continue providing that opportunity for the next generation.
