A gentle, play-based first school experience for young children.

Outlook & District Playschool is a warm, supportive, screen-free environment where children can play, grow, build confidence, and explore new experiences at their own pace.

Through play, friendships, gentle routines, and hands-on activities, children develop important skills that help prepare them for the transition into kindergarten and beyond.

We help children build:

  • Confidence

  • Independence

  • Friendships

  • Social skills

  • Comfort in a group setting

  • Familiarity with routines and new experiences

This isn't full-day daycare, and it isn't a strict academic program.

It's a gentle bridge between home and school.

A few hours a week in a smaller, familiar environment gives children the opportunity to practice being part of a group, listening to another trusted adult, making friends, taking turns, and building confidence away from home, all through play.

Outlook & District Playschool provides children in Outlook and surrounding communities with a safe, welcoming and supportive play-based first school experience. Through play, exploration, meaningful relationships and hands-on experiences, we support children as they develop confidence, independence, social skills and a positive foundation for their next school experience.

 

VISION

We envision a Playschool where children feel safe, welcomed and valued as they learn, play, grow and develop at their own pace.

We want children to:

  • Feel comfortable trying new things and experiencing new situations

  • Build positive relationships with children and adults

  • Explore their interests and environment

AIM

The aim of Outlook & District Playschool is to provide a positive, supportive and developmentally appropriate first school experience.

We aim to provide opportunities for children to:

  • Develop confidence in themselves and their ability to try new things

  • Develop independence and self-help skills

  • Participate in a wide variety of activities and experiences

  • Develop curiosity and a desire to explore

  • Increase their ability to focus their attention

  • Practice and improve communication skills

  • Develop social skills and positive relationships with children and adults

  • Learn to participate cooperatively in a group

  • Express their ideas, needs and feelings

  • Develop problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Develop fine and gross motor skills

  • Explore their creativity and imagination

  • Become comfortable with routines and group expectations

  • Remain true to their individual nature and develop their own potential

We do not aim to rush children into formal academics. We aim to provide the foundational skills, confidence, independence and positive experiences that help children move successfully into their next school experience.
