Community Sponsorship & Tuition Support

A Community-Sponsored Opportunity for Local Children

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and community members, partial and full tuition support may be available to help your child attend Outlook & District Playschool.

If you've been thinking about registering your child but the cost of tuition is making you hesitate, we want you to know:

There is funding available, and we encourage families to apply.

You don't need to be certain you qualify before applying.

If cost is a factor in your decision, this program may be able to help.

The Funding Is Here to Be Used

In 2026, local businesses and community members came together to help make Outlook & District Playschool more accessible to local families.

They contributed to a sponsorship fund specifically intended to help children attend playschool when the cost of tuition may otherwise be a barrier.

The funding is already here. It was raised to be used, for children in our community.

The purpose of the program is simple:

We don't want the cost of tuition to be the only reason a child misses the opportunity to attend playschool.

What Is the Community Sponsorship Program?

The Community Sponsorship Program allows Outlook & District Playschool to offer tuition support to families through funding provided by local businesses and community members.

Sponsors contribute to a community fund that is used to help cover playschool tuition for eligible families.

Depending on available funding and individual circumstances, support may cover:

  • Part of a child's tuition

  • A significant portion of tuition

  • In some cases, the full cost of tuition

The amount of support available may vary depending on:

  • Available sponsorship funding

  • The number of families who apply

  • Individual circumstances

  • The Playschool Board's review and allocation of available funds

Applications are reviewed confidentially.

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is for families who would like their child to attend playschool but are hesitating because of the cost.

Maybe:

  • Your family budget is feeling stretched.

  • The full cost of tuition feels difficult to manage.

  • You have other expenses this year.

  • You believe your child would benefit from playschool but aren't sure you can afford it.

  • You're considering registering but the cost is making you hesitate.

If cost is a factor, any factor, we encourage you to apply.

You don't need to be embarrassed about asking.

You don't need to decide whether you qualify before applying.

And you don't need to assume the support is intended only for families in extreme financial hardship.

The goal of this program is not to make families prove they are struggling enough.

The goal is to help make sure cost isn't the only thing standing between a child and playschool.

What Families May Receive

Tuition support may help cover part or all of your child's playschool tuition.

Outlook & District Playschool offers two program options:

1-Day-Per-Week Program

$450 for the school year

2-Day-Per-Week Program

$850 for the school year

Tuition support may be available for either program.

The amount of support available to each family is determined based on the available funding and the Board's review of applications.

Please note that tuition support cannot be guaranteed for every applicant.

Why Playschool?

Outlook & District Playschool is a gentle, play-based, screen-free introduction to learning and group experiences.

It is designed to be a bridge between home and kindergarten.

Children have the opportunity to build:

Friendships

Children learn how to interact with other children their age, build relationships, communicate, share space, and navigate friendships.

Confidence

Children gain confidence by trying new things, making choices, participating in activities, and discovering that they can do things independently.

Social Skills

Children practice real-life skills such as:

  • Taking turns

  • Sharing

  • Waiting

  • Communicating

  • Speaking up

  • Participating in a group

  • Working through small conflicts

Independence

Children have the opportunity to spend time away from home, follow routines, make small choices, and build confidence in their own abilities.

Kindergarten Readiness

Kindergarten readiness is about much more than letters and numbers.

Children benefit from practicing how to:

  • Listen to another adult

  • Participate in a group

  • Follow a routine

  • Take turns

  • Be away from their parents

  • Build confidence around other children

At playschool, children have the opportunity to practice these skills in a smaller, gentler environment before making the transition into kindergarten.

And they do it through play.

Because play isn't an extra part of learning at this age. It's how children learn.

Why Outlook & District Playschool?

Our program offers families:

A Gentle Transition Into School

A few hours a week gives children the opportunity to build confidence in a group setting without being overwhelmed by a full school schedule.

A Play-Based, Screen-Free Environment

Children learn through play, interaction, imagination, creativity, exploration, and hands-on experiences.

A Predictable Routine

Children attend on the same days each week, helping create familiarity and consistency.

A Schedule That Works With School Life

We follow the Sun West School Division calendar, including holidays and school breaks.

This can make scheduling easier for families with older children already attending school.

A Long-Standing Community Program

Outlook & District Playschool has served local families for nearly 40 years.

It is a community-based program run by a parent volunteer committee and supported by families, businesses, and community members who believe in the importance of early childhood experiences.

Thank You to the Community Supporting Local Children

This opportunity would not exist without the generosity of local businesses, organizations, and community members who chose to invest in children and families in our community.

Through their support, Outlook & District Playschool is able to offer partial and full tuition assistance to help make playschool more accessible to local families.

We are incredibly grateful to every business and community member who contributed.

Because of these businesses and community members, tuition support is available for local children who may not otherwise be able to attend.

A Community Opportunity

The people and businesses who contributed to this sponsorship fund did so because they wanted to help local children access playschool.

They believed in:

  • Local children

  • Local families

  • Early learning

  • The value of community programs

  • The future of Outlook & the surrounding area

Applying for tuition support isn't taking something that isn't yours.
It's accepting an opportunity that was created for children and families in this community.

If your child could benefit from playschool and the cost is making you hesitate, we encourage you to apply.

Think Your Child Could Benefit?

You don't need to decide whether you qualify before applying.

You don't need to commit to anything just by asking a question.

If cost is a factor, we encourage you to apply.

Applications are reviewed confidentially by the Outlook & District Playschool Board.
